Barbecue, Fireworks, Brunch-or-Lunch, or Cocktail-Skyline Sail from Tall Ship Red Witch (Up to 55% Off)
Boat captains must master nautical lexicon before sailing the seas to ensure that they can distinguish port, which means left, from starboard, which means launch the vessel into deep space. Count down to a sea launch with this Groupon:

On the evening of June 11, passengers board the tall ship Red Witch for a Robinson’s Ribs barbecue feast backdropped by the passing waves of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Alternatively, lake farers can tote along their own eats and beverages and pick the Wednesday or Saturday of their choosing for the fireworks sail, which boasts crystal-clear water views of Navy Pier’s glittering pyrotechnics display. For the brunch-or-lunch sail, passengers and daring gremlins bask in the sunshine while munching on a boxed meal from Fox & Obel and washing down bites with a soda or water. The cocktail-skyline tour commences with a 30-minute dockside reception before embarking on a two-hour journey fortified by two glasses of beer or wine for each of-age passenger. All options include a $ 2 administration fee. See the schedule for a list of upcoming dates and times.
Tall Ship Red Witch
What looks like a crimson-hulled pirate ship glides into view from behind Shedd Aquarium. The wind picks up, surging into the schooner’s 77-foot gaff-rigged topsails and speeding the vessel along Lake Shore Drive at 10 knots. Those on shore can just make out the boat’s name, Red Witch, and what appear to be passengers raising a drink to the Chicago skyline. Docked in Burnham Harbor, the Red Witch tall ship is one three vessels in Tall Ship Adventures of Chicago’s fleet. Designed by naval architect John G. Alden and named after the book Wake of the Red Witch—the same story that inspired the film starring John Wayne and Gail Russell—the Coast Guard–licensed ship accommodates up to 49 passengers within its mahogany-over-oak frame. Having sailed waters off Maui and San Diego, the boat is now under the stewardship of Captain Andrew Sadock and his crew, which leads tour cruises, coordinates charter adventures, and autographs cannonballs for each passenger. In addition to being a current member of the American Sail Training Association, the Red Witch finished among the finalists for Best Boat/Cruise Service Provider in the 2010 Illinois Meetings + Events Readers’ Choice Best of Awards.
